Fine Arts Fund

The foundation of the Fine Arts Fund was laid by the princely family of Samegrelo, through the efforts of David Dadiani, his consort Ekaterine Chavchavadze-Dadiani, and their children — Prince Niko Mingrelski, Andria, and Princess Salome Dadiani. Within this cultural center were gathered, and have been preserved to the present day, outstanding examples of painting, graphic art, engraving, and sculpture by both Georgian and European masters.

The collection encompasses works by Georgian, German, French, English, Italian, and Russian artists, whose creations inspire admiration in visitors. Among the distinguished names represented are Franz Xaver Winterhalter, Jacques-Louis David, Friedrich Frisch, Paramon Blanchard, Émile François Desenne, Adalbert Waagen, Franz Krüger, Thomas Blinks, François Géricot, François Gérard, Alfred Frank de Prade, Paul Delaroche, Ignacio Povoni, Grigol Gagarin, Vasili Timi, Konstantin Makovsky, Theodor Burov, Petre Rizhikov, Eduard and Vladimir Hau, and Vladimir Mashkov.

In addition to these, the Fund preserves works by celebrated Georgian artists such as Lado Gudiashvili, Elene Akhvlediani, Leopold Dzadzamidze, Robert Sturua (senior), Temo Gotsadze, Giorgi Gegechkori, Jibson Khundadze, Rusudan Petviashvili, Mamuka Tsetskhladze, Zaira Bechvaia, Misha (Matsi) Khorava, Robert Abshandze, and others, represented in painting, graphic art, and engraving.
